Next week it is the ITSA 2019 in Nuremberg and i thought it will be good to give you high priests of segmentation a overview of the companies exhibiting their solutions for segmentation and microsegmentation there.
Illumio
This one is special, because you will have the chance to meet me personally presenting the power of host-based microsegmentation to you for the three days of ITSA 2019. Feel free to come by and ask me anything about Illumio, this site or really anything that comes up.
We will also be hosting a special event on the first evening
- [https://www.it-sa.de/de/ausstellerprodukte/itsa19/aussteller-45264130/illumio-uk-limited](Illumio at ITSA)
- where: hall 9 booth 602
- special events: Segmentation meet up in Casa del Puro
Guardicore
The other host based solution is at ITSA 2019 too and is having a pod at the exclusive networks booth
- where: hall 9 booth 316 with Exclusive Networks
- special events: n/a
Cisco
Cisco is part of every tradeshow and event where networking and security is remotely a thing and of course ITSA is no exception to that. They list a couple of booths, but the main one is the below. Cisco has a couple of solutions for segmenting on the L2/L3 layer, don’t expect to meet any segmentation experts on their booth as this is a very small part of Cisco’s overall massive footprint.
- where: Cisco main booth
- special events: n/a - pretty sure there is a party at the booth
VMWare
VMware does not seem to have a booth at ITSA but they’re of course present via many of their partners. The main product that claims to also do segmentation down to a micro level is their SDN platform NSX.
- where: VMWare list of presence
- special events: n/a
Firewall vendors
A security trade show without firewall vendors would be - right - empty. So you can meet all the guys there that want to sell you their latest and greatest chassis and interfaces for a less granular approach to segmentation. I wouldn’t expect a microsegmentation expert on any of those booths, but maybe there’s some smart presales guys available.
Interesting talks
I find it super funny that one of the building blocks of a secure network and application landscape - segmentation - is not covered in any of the talks during ITSA or the ITSA congress. On the contrary i meet people every day, that struggle with implementing proper segmentation because - yes - it is harder than it should be. It may also be too boring and not enough of a silver bullet to just do the obvious :)
I found one exception which is Secure networks through AI / ML, proper access protection, micro segmentation and anomaly detection
If you happen to be at ITSA, please come by the Illumio booth and we’ll give you a introduction to how Illumio handles security segmentation and say hello to meet the team.
Did i forget something
Please comment or drop me a mail if i forgot something that you think should be in this incomplete guide to ITSA 2019.
