segment all the things

Automated coverage digest, not an incident assessment. This maps published RSS metadata to containment themes using explicit phrase rules. It does not establish that segmentation failed, would have stopped an attack, or replaces patching.

Today’s signal

OT & connected devices has the largest weighted share (47.7%). The sample contains 11 matched items, published within the last 14 days. 11 items are newly observed by this monitor today, not necessarily newly published.

Sources available: 4/4. All configured feeds responded.

Shares describe this feed sample, not attack prevalence, control effectiveness or spending priorities. An item can match more than one theme. Zero means no matching evidence here, not no risk.

Containment review prompts

These are editorial engineering questions, not conclusions about the linked incidents.

  • OT & connected devices: Separate device zones from business workloads. Review integrator and maintenance access before enforcing changes.
  • Identity & service access: Map which workloads need identity services. Limit reachable protocols and separate identity administration; network rules do not replace identity controls.
  • Management & remote access: Separate management traffic from application traffic. Restrict administrative access to named, controlled entry points.

Evidence behind the signal

Selected by recency. Matches use feed text, not full-article investigation. The full matched set, rule terms and dates are available in the snapshot.

Method and limits

Government/CERT feed items carry 2.5 base points; independent press items carry 1.0. Exact phrase matches select themes. The theme with the most distinct matches is primary (full points); other matches receive half points. Ties follow the published rule order. Points decay with a three-day half-life and expire after 14 days. Shares are normalized to 100%; consecutive daily snapshots use 60% current share and 40% previous share. There is no artificial minimum weight.

Canonical URLs and identical normalized titles are deduplicated. Items sharing a CVE are grouped, retaining the highest source-weight item. This does not deduplicate all coverage of the same incident. Generic CISA recommended-practice text is removed. Commercial markers are excluded, but automated filtering cannot guarantee independent editorial provenance. Feeds have different lengths and detail; this is a small, biased coverage sample, not a comprehensive news survey.

No history is backfilled. Rolling 7-, 30- and 90-day summaries use only recorded daily snapshots. A failed fetch does not become a zero-risk finding. Methodology and source health.
